Description

Start: Tarrytown side of the Mario Cuomo Tappan Zee Bridge Bike Path

Finish: Upper West Side of Manhattan

Going through: Westchester, The Bronx, Manhattan

Distance: 29.3 miles

Climbing: 1,428′

Highlights: The most direct and traffic-free road route back to New York City.  Over 2/3 of the ride is on paved, off-street multi-use paths.

Includes: PDF file with ride intelligence and GPX file with route.   The PDF prepares you for the route and can be glanced at, printed out and/or uploaded to your mobile device.  The GPX is to be uploaded into your bike computer or mobile device so you can let the machine give you the directions as you ride along.

Notes: This is part of a suite of bike rides in Westchester.  They’re designed for cyclists who want to start exploring the east bank of the Hudson.  I advise also purchasing W01, W02, W03 to get a more complete picture of what’s easy to ride in southern Westchester.  I think seeing all the rides will help give you both choice and context.  One of my frustrations with downloading rides in areas I’m not familiar with is that I often feel like I’m in a trench and can’t see what’s on either side of me, creating a little anxiety if I get off track. By having these different rides and ride descriptions, you can see where you are both on the route and relative to other rides. The world is a bit more complete that way.   By having multiple rides, you can also further explore the area and keep riding fresh.
